Remembering Jobim – Alex Steele Quartet
(piano, violin, bass & drums)
Alex hails from Cheltenham. Both parents were professional musicians and Alex’s own children all play instruments (his son is a professional pianist working in the pop and rock industry). But as well as being a superb keys man (he also plays bass, guitar, drums and sax to a high level), he is also a scientist (visiting professor at two universities) and a motivational speaker lecturing about the value of cooperation in jazz and its relevance to co-operative success. He’s chosen to play two sets of Latin styled music concentrating on the music of Antonio Carlos Jobim (yup the one who wrote Girl From Ipanema and is widely acknowledged as the composer/player who ‘internationalised’ Bossa Nova music). So we’d encourage you to come along and hear Bossa Novas, Sambas, Rhumbas and more besides.
