Jazz on Tap Wednesday July 4th 2018
Caley Groves ‘Django’ Quartet
(violin, two guitars & bass)
Australian Caley has performed and lived in the UK for over 10 years now. He has paid his dues gigging around the UK jazz circuit and predominantly with the Gyspy Jazz echelon that is now so favourably received by audiences up and down the nation’s live music venues. More recently Caley has secured his reputation as rhythm guitarist with the ubiquitous Remi Harris performing with him at the Royal Albert Hall with Jamie Cullum and recently embarking on a huge, critically acclaimed tour. However, all this talk of Remi shadows the fact that Caley is a masterful soloist and band leader in his own right – so we are delighted to give him a slice of the lime light at this very special concert remembering the hot-club swing jazz of pre-war Paris that made Django Reinhardt so famous. Performing with Caley will be Ben Holder (violin), another very fine guitarist, Andy Mackenzie and superb bassist Paul Jefferies.
