Jamie Brownfield Quartet

(trumpet, piano, double bass & drums)

We love jazz award winning Jamie and his slick, swing/be-bop phrasing! This is a young jazz musician with flare and style and we’re delighted he’s returning for a concert with Ben Holder (piano), Paul Jefferies (bass) and Jack Cotterill (drums). But – don’t just take it our word about his talents, here’s what global trumpet star and jazz historian says about him:

“I’m delighted by the Jazz Rag’s recent celebrations of trumpeter Jamie Brownfield. I had the pleasure of sharing the stand with Jamie recently for a two-trumpet concert at the Bridgnorth Jazz Festival, and was amazed and delighted by everything I saw and heard. Not only is this fine young trumpeter an audible celebrant of all the greatest traditions (and genres) of his instrument, but his repertoire far exceeds that of most of his young contemporaries – he was as happy to play ‘Careless love’ as ‘Groovin’ high’ . His four ‘T’s – tone, technique, time and taste! – are all perfectly in place and his stage demeanour (as well as his musico/technical charity to a far older performer!) marked him out for me not only as a personal favourite, but a musician who deserves to make a major impact on our British jazz scene.”
